Trends I'm Missing in the Bridal World

Trends I'm Missing in the Bridal World

Hi everyone!

Hope your week has been going great so far. It’s been a bit busy over here! For those of you who don’t know, besides running LuxeBrideGuide, a majority of my time is spent doing work for my social media clients. The past week and a half has been super duper busy since I just signed a new client and have been in New York multiple days a week, but while I have a second to breathe, I figured I would take a walk down memory lane and talk about trends that I miss when it comes to all things wedding related.

This topic was inspired from a conversation my mom and I had about a very unpopular opinion we both have when it comes to wedding decor (I’m not even going to say it because all of you will freak out…). And then it got me thinking…What happened to all of the trends I used to love? When are they coming back?

1. Ball gowns

While many designers obviously make ball gowns, I feel like fitted dresses have been the norm lately. In fact, a few months ago I was just browsing some collections and noticed that some of them had no ball gowns at all! I hope that we see more of them this fall at New York Bridal Fashion Week. Although knowing me when it is my time to say “I do,” I’ll probably end up wearing the complete opposite of what I planned. (Read as: completely plain crepe sheath dress.)

2. Modern receptions/at least something different

Enough! I am tired of seeing the same darn look at every wedding. Where is the modernity? The sleek lines! The mirrored table tops! The more streamlined flowers?! Candles instead of blush roses?! #IKnowImDramatic

3. Waiting to see the bride until she’s walking down the aisle

While I LOVE some good first look photos (I’ve been known to tear up), I will always stand by the fact that I think the groom shouldn’t see the bride until she’s walking down the aisle. He needs to feel like he’s going to die if he has to wait one more second. I feel like doing a first look before the ceremony takes away from this moment.

4. Wearing one gown

I know I mentioned this in my last post, but I think you should only wear one gown. While I mayyyy not follow this myself (things tend to go out the window when you’re planning a wedding and I mean let’s be honest, I would love to have 20 different gowns because I love pretty much everything), I think your gown should be one that you NEVER want to take off. Also I’d rather spend the extra money on something else that the guests would enjoy.

Are there any trends you wish you come back? Let me know!
